We are seeking a skilled Reality Capture Lead to oversee and manage our reality capture operations. The ideal candidate will lead the implementation of reality capture technologies, such as 3D laser scanning, LIDAR, and drone-based data collection, to deliver high-quality survey data for our clients. This role requires technical expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to advancing our firm’s capabilities in geospatial data acquisition and processing.
Key responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution: Develop and execute reality capture strategies for land survey projects, including selecting appropriate technologies (e.g., LiDAR, photogrammetry, UAVs) and coordinating field operations.
- Data Acquisition: Oversee the operation of reality capture equipment, such as terrestrial laser scanners, and drones ensuring accurate and efficient data collection.
- Data Processing and Analysis: Manage the processing of captured data using software such as Leica Register 360, Autodesk ReCap, or Trimble Business Center to produce point clouds, 3D models, and other deliverables.
- Quality Control: Implement quality assurance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of captured data, meeting industry standards and client specifications.
- Team Management: Supervise and train field and office staff on reality capture technologies and workflows, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements, present deliverables, and provide technical insights to support decision-making and drive growth.
- Technology Integration: Stay updated on advancements in reality capture technologies and recommend new tools or processes to enhance firm capabilities.
- Project Documentation: Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations summarizing project outcomes, methodologies, and deliverables.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all reality capture operations comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and local laws. Especially important for our UAS program.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 3 years focused on reality capture technologies including 3D laser scanning, and/or drone-based surveying.
- Technical Skills:
Proficiency with reality capture tools (e.g. high-definition scanners).
Expertise in data processing software (e.g., Leica Register 360, Autodesk ReCap, Trimble Business Center, CloudCompare).
Expertise in developing deliverables from the generated point clouds (e.g. 3D modeling, surfaces, linework, etc.)
Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS).
Knowledge of geospatial data formats (e.g., LAS, LAZ, E57) and coordinate systems.
- Certifications: FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification is a plus for drone operations.

Additional requirements
